Don't confuse the Brain-Pad with other mouthguards on the market. The Brain-Pad is more than a mouthguard. It is an intraoral piece of equipment designed to stabilize the jaw while participating in contact sports. Brain-Pad secures and cushions the jaw and is the original and only "jaw joint protector".

Studies have shown the majority of serious concussions actually stem from lower jaw impacts. Upper jaw-only mouth guards allow the lower jaw to move freely and can not stabilize the lower jaw, therefore putting the athlete at risk of both jaw-joint injuries and concussions. The reason this joint is so important to protect is because the brain sits directly on top of the joint and is separated from the end of the lower jaw bone by some of the thinnest bone in the body.
